The chipmaker has revealed more than 150 devices designed to support 5G, adopting its 5G solution. In fact, these devices have been released or under development. However, the product portfolio will be expanded to provide 5G experience for more than 2 billion smartphone users.
Alex Katouzian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Services at Qualcomm, said that Qualcomm has provided the most advanced 5G mobile platform in the world including the first comprehensive Modem-RF System to accelerate the commercialization of 5G networks in 2019.
At IFA 2019, Qualcomm announced the expansion of its portfolio of products for 5G mobile platform. To continue to realize the goal of commercializing 5G networks on a global scale, they will expand the production of Snapdragon 8 Series, 7 Series and 6 Series chips by 2020.

The Snapdragon 5G mobile platform portfolio will support all types of frequencies, including mmWave and sub-6GHz (sub-6 GHz) band groups, TDD and FDD modes, 5G multi-sim mode, dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS), independent parameters (SA) and non-independent parameters (NSA) of the network structure.
Qualcomm also said it is working on the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Series 5G mobile platform, details will be updated later this year.
5G networks are being deployed in 2019.
5G in the Snapdragon 7 series
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Series 5G mobile platform will be an integrated system in a System-on-a-chip (SoC) and support global frequency bands. Twelve original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and leading brands in the world including OPPO, Realme, Redmi, VIVO, Motorola, HMD and LG plan to use the new integrated platform Snapdragon 7 Series 5G in future 5G mobile devices.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Series 5G mobile platform has been sampled by customers since the second quarter of 2019. The company will continue to accelerate its commercialization in the fourth quarter of 2019. Devices on this platform will soon be released. Details will be published fully by the end of this year.
5G in the Snapdragon 6 series
With Snapdragon 6, Qualcomm aspires to spread the 5G experience even further. This platform is in line with the deployment plans of many 5G network operators on a global scale. Devices using the Snapdragon 6 Series 5G mobile platform will be available in the second half of 2020.
