Since Samsung announced it would launch Galaxy Fold in 2018, there are several technology giants joining the race of foldable smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
This is probably the most practical design foldable phone model, Galaxy Fold has been set to launch in April but failed because of hardware problems. The sample phones sent to censors had a serious problem when the Galaxy Fold screen suddenly crumbled. Samsung had to recall all products and release the launch date to fix the problems. After nearly 3 months, Samsung announced that it has overcome the Galaxy Fold incident and will officially launch in September this year. This folding screen phone is expected to cost $ 1,980.
Huawei Mate X
Huawei Mate X first appeared earlier this year in Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC). Unlike Galaxy Fold, this model folds out and has a better display screen. When fully opened, the device turns into an 8-inch screen like a tablet, the camera bar will turn into a useful handle for Huawei Mate X and the manufacturer calls this "Falcon Wing" design.
With this design, the display part when folded is vulnerable easily but makes the phone look more beautiful. Huawei Mate X is scheduled to launch in September at a high price of $ 2500 - $ 2600.
Xiaomi Mi Flex
Unlike Samsung or Huawei, Xiaomi has no plans to officially launch a foldable phone model. However, the company's CEO revealed a short video earlier this year about how Xiaomi's foldable phone would look. CEO of Xiaomi called it "a double foldable phone". However, the operating system running on this device is said to be experiencing problems.
It has been half a year since the video was posted, Samsung and Huawei have set a time to launch their device in September, it is likely that Xiaomi will soon launch the product to compete with the two big tech guys.
Oppo's foldable phone
The information about this phone has not been disclosed much except that it looks a lot like Huawei Mate X. Oppo has plans to launch an incomplete version of this model at MWC 2019 but its image is again leaked on Weibo earlier. There is no information about Oppo's foldable phone specs yet, considering from competitors like Galaxy Fold and Mate X, it is possible that this model will have a 5G connection. This model is expected to have an 8-inch screen when used in extended mode. When folded, the device will be 6.6 inches in size on the front and 6.4 inches on the back.
Like Oppo, Motorola Razr has no official information, and only a few images of the design and style were leaked. According to the latest information from Korea, Motorola Razr 2019 will be a scallop-like screen-foldable smartphone and uses the Infinity Flex screen similar to Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Fold.
According to previous reports, Motorola Razr (2019) is said to have a 6.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 876 x 2,142 pixels. It can cost up to 1,500 USD. According to the Wall Street Journal, Lenovo is cooperating with Verizon to distribute exclusively Motorola Razr 2019 in the US and only produce 200,000 units.
TCL first announced its upcoming foldable phone at MWC this year. Accordingly, the TCL’s phone model will open and fold like a wallet with the screen on the inside. TCL is testing at least two versions with three cameras and four cameras, but both models have one thing in common, which is the hinge that TCL calls Dragon Hinge.
