4 ways to use Microsoft Office for free

Before you decide to pay for the licensed version of Office 365, you should consider these 4 easy ways to use this software for free.

Use the application directly on Office.com

If you have a Microsoft account and an internet connection, you can use the Microsoft Office Suite on Office.com at no cost. Most users of the Windows operating system already have a Microsoft account when buying a license, but you can also register a new account at any time without any charges.

Simply log into the Office.com site with your Microsoft account or visit the application you need on the Office.com product page. So, you can use any application in Microsoft Office Suite, as long as your computer is connected to the internet.

As a disadvantage of this method, you cannot use the Office applications or access the created data files without an internet connection. Similar to Google Docs, data will be stored in the cloud but the difference is that you can save them in many different formats of Microsoft (files created on Office.com will have a format specific to them).

If you can ensure that your computer is always connected to the network, this is considered the best way to use the Microsoft Office Suite application suite, which is both free and can save memory on your computer.

In addition, you can access documents on any device with only your Microsoft account. While some features are only available for Office 365 users, Office.com is still the best choice.

Use mobile phone applications

Today, you can use Microsoft Office almost on all kinds of devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets, and even mobile phones. All devices with the same account can access the same documents at different times, so you can work anywhere with Microsoft Office Suite. And you absolutely can use this suite for free on the mobile application.

Microsoft allows users to download their applications for free, and users can access most basic applications. There will be some differences between applications on Android and on iOS or between iPhone and iPad.

You can download any applications that you need and can access and share documents with anyone thanks to cloud sharing and storage. Office apps may use up a bit of memory on your device, but not your documents, so you don't have to worry about your device getting overwhelmed by too many texts or tables stored in it.

Disadvantages of mobile applications are similar to Office.com, some editing features are limited to Office 365 users. In addition, you will not be able to edit text if the device screen is larger than 10.1 inches. Therefore, with an iPad Pro device, you will have to buy Office 365 or use Office.com in a web browser.

By restricting Microsoft only allow mobile phones to use their office applications for free. And you may not be satisfied with having to edit the text on a small device. But if you just need to read the texts, this is one good free option.

Back to school

In case you really need to install the Microsoft Office Suite applications on your computer to work offline, you may be lucky if you are born in the right place at the right time.

Microsoft has launched Office 365 Education, a system that allows pupils and students with school email addresses (and are also old enough to sign up for email) to access and download all applications for free in Microsoft Office Suite during their stay at school.

Office 365 Education allows students to share documents and applications between devices, so they can work anywhere. At the same time, students can also use the Microsoft Teams or Skype application for free online or offline meetings.

If you are a student, take advantage of this program from Microsoft. The program is applied from high school to college, applying to both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Office 365 Education will send periodic reminders to ensure that you are still in school. In case you have graduated, you will have one more month of free use and then you will have to sign up for Office 365 services or use one of the remaining ways in this article.

Free trial

If you only need Microsoft Office Suite in a project, a free 30-day trial of Microsoft Office Suite is your answer. There are no feature limitations in the trial version either on computers or on mobile phones. Transferring documents between devices is even simpler than the above.

You'll work both online and offline, plus 1TB of storage on OneDrive cloud storage. You can also share the trial with other people (up to 25 people) to be able to work together. This is the perfect option if you don't need to use Microsoft Office Suite for more than a month. You can only use the Microsoft Office Suite trial once and when it expires, you will not be able to use Office 365 unless you pay to sign up for the service.
