Disney has just announced that "Toy Story 4" has officially surpassed the global revenue of $ 1 billion after August 15. This is the fourth part of the "Toy Story" animation series and was officially released in mid-June 2019.
Like many other animation projects, "Toy Story 4" was released by Disney in countries and territories at various times. The last big market that the new blockbuster animation came to was Germany.
"Toy Story 4" is also the fourth Pixar animation in history to surpass $ 1 billion, after "Toy Story 3" ($ 1.06 billion, 2010), "Finding Dory" ($ 1.02 billion, 2016), and "Incredibles 2" ($ 1.24 billion, 2018).
In the revenue of more than $ 1 billion of the work directed by Josh Cooley now, there are $ 421 million from North American market and $ 580 million of international markets. Outside the homeland, the film has attracted a large audience in Britain ($ 75 million), Japan ($ 77 million) and Mexico ($ 72 million).
To Disney alone, "Toy Story 4" was their fifth film this year to surpass the global $ 1 billion milestone after "Avengers: Endgame", "Captain Marvel", "Aladdin" and "The Lion King". Up to now, there are a total of 6 works that have global revenue of over $ 1 billion in 2019, 5 of them were released by Disney. "Spider-man: Far from home" is the only name that came from another home.
In the past, the record with four movies grossing $ 1 billion in a year also belonged to Disney. It was 2016 with "Zootopia", "Finding Dory", "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "Captain America: Civil War".
Only over 8 months of 2019 have just passed, and analysts soon realized that this would be a year of Disney taking the cinematic world by storm. According to statistics from North American media, since the beginning of the year, the "House of Mouse" brand have brought in nearly $ 8 billion at the global box office.
However, the record of the giant in 2019 is not likely to stop. From now until the end of the year, it also has three big projects that can collect handsomely: the animated film "Frozen II" – the sequel of blockbuster, Oscar-winner "Frozen" (2013); "Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker" – the final chapter about the Skywalker in "Star Wars" series; and "Maleficent 2" with the return of Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie.
Experts estimated that Disney would gain about $ 9 billion this year, but looking at the current situation, it is easy to see that this number will soon be overthrown.
