'The French Dispatch' – The promising new work of Wes Anderson

For those who love independent films, the new work by American director Wes Anderson promises to not disappoint you.

A story about journalism

The rumor about the musical genre spreading before was not true, but the context of "The French Dispatch" in Paris was confirmed. Anderson also revealed a bit about the film's content, which is "a love letter to journalists" that helped the American newspaper to have its own place in Paris in the 20th century.

According to Wes Anderson, the plot of the film is very difficult to explain. The film is about an American journalist setting up his editorial office in France. It portrays a journalist struggling to write what he wants.

Robert Yeoman – The man behind the fascinating scenes of "The Grand Budapest Hotel"

One of Wes Anderson's most important creative partners is none other than Robert Yeoman, the cinematographer who has worked on many projects with him since the "Bottle Rocket" era. In addition to stop-motion animations like "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "Isle of Dogs", Robert Yeoman was involved in filming all of Anderson's works.

With "The Grand Budapest Hotel", he received nominations for Critics' Choice Movie Award, American Society of Cinematographers Award, BAFTA Award and Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

Rumors of Wes Anderson producing musicals came when his collaboration with Mark Mothersbaugh was revealed. Although there will be no upcoming musicals, the songs appearing in "The French Distpatch" will still be penned by the former Devo member.

Contributing in Anderson's 10th film was Alexandre Desplat, the French composer who accompanied him in "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel". Alexandre won two Oscars and many other BAFTA nominations in his recent works for his outstanding music.

The return of an amazing crew

This is the 5th time American visual effects Andrew Weisblum has teamed up with Wes Anderson in film projects after "The Darjleeing Limited", "Fantastic Mr. Fox", "Moonrise Kingdom" and "Isle of Dogs". Anderson's Oscar-winning design team in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" will also be retained to dedicate in the upcoming movie. Therefore, the audience can fully expect great quality of context, costumes... from "The French Dispatch".

Anderson lives in Paris but this is the first film he makes in France. The exact location is said to be the city of Angoulême, capital of the province of Charente, southern France. The quiet, ancient countryside in this romantic country will surely guarantee poetic scenes for the movie.

Release date

Although Wes Anderson hinted that he would be able to finish the movie by the end of the year, it seems that 2020 is the right time to release the film. Some of Anderson's previous works were released in March after their premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, so many fans also hope "The French Dispatch" will follow that sequence.
