Marvel Studios’s next Thor sequence under process

According to many sources, Marvel Studios recently re-partnered with Taika Waititi, planning to produce the next part in the God of Thunder’s own franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios has recruited Taika Waititi to direct Thor 4 - marking the return of the director after Thor: Ragnarok (2017).

Part 3 of the franchise got positive results in both critics’ reviews and box office statistics. On Rotten Tomatoes, Thor: Ragnarok received 93% positive reviews and collected $853.9 million USD worldwide. These are superior figures comparing to the two prequels, Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013).

Thor's iconic long hair was shockingly ‘murdered’ in Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Ragnarok revolves around Thor (Chris Hemsworth) ’s journey to defend Asgard from the apocalypse Ragnarok and his sister, Hela - the Goddess of Death  - Hela (Cate Blanchett). Part 3 of the God of Thunder’s series is much more captivating thanks to the humorous details intertwined throughout the plot.

The last time Thor appeared on the large screen was the Avengers: Endgame. In the blockbuster, he and his superhero squad stands together to destroy Thanos - the crazed Titan who only has one goal to wipe out half of the universe. In the end, the God of Thunder accompanies the Guardians of the Galaxy on the way to find Gamora.

There is a high chance that in the next Guardians of the Galaxy, fans will witness the appearance of Odin's son. If this happens, Thor 4's plot is even more unpredictable. Moreover, the audience has been informed of neither the release date nor the setting of the film.

Notably, Chris Hemsworth's contract with Marvel Studios ended with Avengers: Endgame. In the past 2 months, the actor has been rumored to be re-signing 05 more projects with Marvel Studios.

Hemsworth once shared his desire to co-operate with MCU: "I like that anything goes. You're not locked into expectations. I enjoyed that version of Thor. It was so different than any other way I played the character. And then it took on a life of its own."

In the summer of 2019, the Australian actor also participated in the project Men in Black: International directed by Gary Gray. Despite being well-known for superhero roles, Hemsworth and co-star Tessa Thompson (also played the key role in Thor: Ragnarok) couldn't help the film have a better outcome. Currently, the film has grossed $243.6 million from the international box office only.

Taika David Waititi, 43, was nominated for an Oscar after his first short film Two Cars, One Night (2005). His latest project with Warner Bros.: Akira is delayed indefinitely.
